Un rêve dans un rêve

Jeudi 26 mai, je suis allée voir Elysian Fields en concert au New Morning.
Je les avais déjà vus il y a 5 ans au Ciel à Grenoble, lors de la sortie de Bum Raps & Love Taps.
Cette fois le concert était assez différent : très peu de reprises de The Afterlife mais plutôt de Queen of the Meadow (2000), des chansons inédites et un son résolument plus jazz : contrebasse, piano et guitare rétro étaient à l'honneur.
La voix de Jennifer Charles est toujours merveilleuse à écouter, Oren Bloedow voltige de la guitare au piano avec une remarquable aisance.

Mais la meilleure surprise de ce concert a été "Dream Within a Dream" (adaptation d'un poème d'Edgar Allan Poe) avec au violoncelle Vincent Ségal. Membre de Bumcello, violoncelliste de Mathieu Chédid, ce musicien touche à tout a collaboré avec des artistes aussi prestigieux que Keziah Jones, Elvis Costello, Bashung, Sting, le tromboniste Glenn Ferris...
Son solo de violoncelle était un moment inoubliable.
